Nicholas is a Licensed Professional Counselor in the state of Georgia (LPC008450) specializing in individual, couples and family therapy, and maintains a private practice in Blairsville. Georgia.. He has extensive experience working with children and parents to solve educational and behavioral difficulties that arise from time to time. He enjoys working with individuals to identify solutions and accommodations to support individual success for clients and their families. His skills provide for the opportunity to work with child, adolescent and adult populations in regard to developmental, social and familial existential dilemmas that influence an individual’s experience.
He believes that every person has the capability grow into the person they would like to become and thrive in their life and relationships. Since every person is unique, he uses an eclectic approach to therapy, tailoring each counseling session to fit the clients' specific needs and personalities. He encourages clients to take responsibility for their own thoughts, behaviors and actions. He utilizes an active approach in therapy by listening, inquiring and occasionally challenging clients to try something new or acquire an alternative perspective to an issue. His clients describe him as warm, empathetic and direct.
He earned a Bachelor of Arts in Psychology at the University of West Georgia in 1998, a Master of Arts in Guidance and Counseling in 2003, and an Education Specialist in Guidance and Counseling in 2009. He has 10 years of experience as an elementary school counselor. He is a member of the American Counseling Association (ACA), the American School Counseling Association (ASCA) and is certified as both a Nationally Certified Counselor (NCC) and a Nationally Certified School Counselor (NCSC) by the National Board for Certified Counselors (NBCC). With over fourteen years experience as a Professional School Counselor, and as a graduate of Ed.S Professional Counseling program at the University of West Georgia he is currently serving as as a school counselor by day and as a private practitioner working with a broad spectrum of clients.
